WHO IS N.S.S.?

Nochlezhka Swiss Solidarity, or NSS, was founded one year ago, in August 2008 in Geneva. It supports the Russian Non Governmental Organization Nochlezhka, "a roof for the night", based in St. Petersburg.

Nochlezhka Swiss Solidarity Association is a nonprofit organization. It is sponsored by Swiss personalities who support his fight against poverty and inequity administrative encountered in Russia.

Since its inception, NSS has worked in the emergency. The urgent challenges facing Nochlezhka, caused by financial difficulties and personnel to carry out their humanitarian assistance, the stress induced in Russia by the absence of social policy accessible to all.

However Nochlezhka Swiss Solidarity is aware that working in the emergency can not find lasting solutions.  However, stable financial support can help to see the future with serenity. For its second year, NSS decided to start a project based on the long term, in order to break this vicious blow to unlimited time.

In order to take actions during these first twelve months, close cooperation with Nochlezhka remains a priority for the installation of this project. This deep collaboration enabled until today, NSS and its donors to follow closely the actions undertaken to control the use of funds provided and to avoid piecemeal philanthropy. From the earliest days, a reserve fund of 10% was also created to deal with contingencies encountered by Nochlezhka. In addition to this project sustainable in the long term, other specific actions will be conducted according to the needs of the emergency.

Unlike Europe, the Russian homeless are overwhelmingly the victims of the bureaucratic system and only 5% of them meet the criteria’s for homeless status. Read the thesis on homless.

For 15 years, Nochlezhka helps the poorest of the Russian society, undocumented migrants, and the homeless. Today in St. Petersburg more than 55,000 men, women and children survive in dire conditions. They receive no support from the public authorities, which ignore this large segment nevertheless highly visible and present.
